Spelling problems?
I've recently realised the extent of obnoxiousness some people in s'pore would go to disgrace the language we love and speak. In other words, english.
I mean, do you like have a spelling problem or something? The simplest words like "like" can be spelled as "lyk". Putting in another letter isn't gonna cripple your fingers I'm sure? And what about the multiple letters problem? Some people spell very normal words like "myself" as "myyselff", which apparently, tells a great deal about their level of intellect. And yes, words which are hideously deformed for some weird reason eg. "stupid" spelled as "toopid". I seriously wonder what sick pleasure these people attain from all this. I considered pronunciation, but then, most of us wouldn't pronouce stupid as "toopid", but surprisingly, a considerable number type messages that way(in emails, on msn, whole blogging, etc.)
You people think it's damn cool eh? Well guess what, it's so totally not! It just shows the lack of intelligence and decent education that is fundamental to every individual in society. As we know, presentation is rather important when meeting people who aren't familliar with you. So just imagine if you were to type a resume ridden with spelling errors. Your prospective employer wouldn't even consider you, as your resume would lack professionalism. And even on a personal level, would you want your friends and family to think that your spelling is mediocre? I certainly doubt so.
I've always wonder if these people have ever stopped and asked themselves what they are doing to the language that forms the basis of modern civilisation. I mean, would you want the next generation to grow up not knowing how to spell properly? I don't. And I don't think anyone would. So, for the sake of our generation and those succeeding us, PLEASE SPELL PROPERLY.
